Dear Friends of Torrey Pines,

Welcome to the first issue of the reimagined Piñon, Torrey Pines Conservancy’s new monthly email newsletter! As we come together to protect and preserve the natural beauty and ecological wonders of the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, it’s more important than ever that we stay connected as a community.

Through this newsletter, we’ll be sharing important updates on the Conservancy’s initiatives, events, volunteer opportunities, and ways you can take action to safeguard this iconic Southern California landscape. We’ll also keep you informed about our fundraising goals and how you can contribute to sustaining our mission. Please let us know what you’d like to see featured.

In addition, I want to introduce our new Development Director, Solange Jacobs. She has hit the ground running with tremendous energy, creativity, and a deep passion for our mission. Solange brings proven marketing expertise coupled with nonprofit, public sector, and community-based experience that highlights her personal and professional commitment to people and planet.

In the role, Solange will prioritize engaging and growing the Conservancy’s membership, including organizing member appreciation events. She will also spearhead comprehensive fundraising plans, cultivating relationships with individual donors and seeking to expand support from foundations, corporations, and government entities. Expect to see her mark on impactful marketing efforts to raise awareness and increase our reach. Solange’s expertise will be invaluable as we seek to expand our membership, creating innovative ways to recruit, engage and retain supporters.

I hope you’ll join me in warmly welcoming Solange, and in thanking Susanne Florin, our outgoing Executive Director, for her exceptional work and support of the Torrey Pines Conservancy during the last eight years. Also, please enjoy this inaugural issue of our new newsletter, and don’t hesitate to reach out to Solange with any questions, comments, or ideas for how we can enhance the Conservancy’s efforts.
