On Saturday, August 17, Torrey Pines Conservancy and the Torrey Pines Docent Society had the honor of hosting Dr. Chris Lowe and his team from California State University, Long Beach, for a talk titled Learning to Live with Sharks at St Peter’s Parish Hall in Del Mar. In case you missed it, we captured a video recording of the whole event.

Professor of marine biology and Director of the Shark Lab at CSULB, Dr. Lowe and his students study the movement, behavior and physiology of sharks and rays, and generously shared their time to present to a packed house of more than 130 Torrey Pines Conservancy members, docents, State Parks lifeguards, other staff, and members of the public. In light of recent shark encounters on our beaches, the crowd was fascinated and stayed through the 100 min+ presentation followed by a robust FAQ session.
